The IBCD”Go To” Texts Project

At IBCD we are always trying to think of ways to helping the church in one-another care.  We are working on a brand-new exciting project and we want to enlist your help.  At IBCD it has become readily apparent that the situations we face as counselors seem to repeat themselves over and over again as if there is nothing new under the sun.  As a result our counselors have developed over time repeatable narratives concerning particular scriptures and their application to situations and counselees.  We even have a popular handout called ‘(Approximately) 100 “Go To” Texts for Biblical Counseling’.  What we would like to do is reach out to the biblical counseling community and hear how experienced counselors like you apply these texts.  From your responses we want to create a series of short instructive posts so that we can all learn from and benefit from each other.  The final product of these posts will have five key elements.

  1. The text will be written out in its entirety.
  2. An exegetical summary. (300-500 words)
  3. A brief case study. (100-200 words)
  4. A short script detailing how it would be used. (300-500 words)
  5. A description of your ministry.

Every counselor who submits a qualified response will receive a 3 months of complimentary Video On Demand access to our newest Observation Case to be released in October.  Counselors who submit material that gets featured in the series will receive a complimentary DVD copy of the Observation case.  In March we had the opportunity to film Dr. Charles Hodges counseling a martial case concerning a couple struggling with a Bi-Polar diagnoses.
