Military and law enforcement service often places people in situations where lethal force is authorized and sometimes used. When people take life in these situations, it will have an effect on their souls. However, the state of their soul in the midst of taking life plays a significant role in determining the kind of effect that will take place. 1 Samuel 25 shows how the motivation for killing—whether legal, authorized, or justifiable—will greatly influence its impact on the life-taker’s soul. In this session, Robert Cale will share wisdom from God’s Word to prepare someone for these situations and help those wrestling with the aftermath of taking life in a justifiable context.

Robert Cale serves as the Operations Supervisor for the Biblical Counseling Coalition. After graduating high school in 1996, Robert joined the United States Marine Corps, where he dedicated 21 years, including combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. In September of 2009, he surrendered his life to Christ, leading him to become a team leader for Mighty Oaks—an organization that provides healing through biblical counseling to active duty service members, veterans, and first responders. He later advanced to serve as the National Aftercare Manager for the same organization. Robert is certified with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Counseling from the College at Mid America in 2024. Currently, he is pursuing an MABC and MDiv at The Baptist Bible College (Mission University). Robert resides in New Albany, Mississippi, engaging in biblical counseling within his church community. He is married to his wife, Emily, and they have four children and five grandchildren.
