One of the lessons we find in Job is the importance of silence and presence to those we care for. In an overly communicative society, we can often be tempted to speak when we really have nothing to say. Joel will help us understand when to stay silent in the counseling process and how God can use our silence to speak powerfully to those who are hurting.

  • Joel Wood, his wife Emily, and their 3 youngest kids live in La Mesa, CA, where he has served as Senior Pastor of New Life Presbyterian Church of La Mesa since October, 2021. He is an ACBC Fellow, an adjunct professor at City Seminary (Sacramento, CA), Westminster Seminary (Philadelphia), OIC, and is ¼ of the Jerusalem Chamber podcast. He received his BA in Educational Ministries/Music from the Moody Bible Institute and his MDiv from Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2008. He completed other graduate work through Dallas Theological Seminary and Mid-America Reformed Seminary. In 2014, He obtained his Doctor of Ministry in Counseling from Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He has been married to Emily for 21 years and loves spending time exploring the West Coast with her and their children.
